A friend challenged me today about keeping my writing light.
I think about this idea and wonder if his expression should influence what I write
about or how I write about it.
Quite an interesting dilemma, do I only write when I have something
positive or ‘light’s to say, or do I dare to drag my dark mood into the public domain?
Perhaps I choose to reflect on the voices I encountered in a
conference, the latest documentary on TV, the evening news? At any point in
life, or any moment we can find the dark and the light. The yin and yang… most
days the news is almost all bad, the documentaries bear witness to the horrible
nature of human behaviour, the need for balance is in our minds.
We keep the bright side up and hope that with time everything
becomes bright. I will thus today try and write something light!
A labour of love
I rescue the little worms
That burrows in my garden
Valuing their service
Working hard
Just below the surface
I pluck the weeds
That grows in my garden
Devaluating their contribution
Just a common nuisance
Life better without their intrusion
I plant seeds of hope
That I hope will grow in my garden
Valuing their bounty
Expecting familiar pleasures
Like every other gardener I’ll expect to harvest a treasure
