Today a joke triggered me to respond
with this post (also posted on Facebook)
As a proud South African I will not let the memories and experiences of my childhood and nearly 25 years of my life as a civil rights advocate and activist be destroyed by the corrupt and criminal human beings who are trying to destroy our resilience, love and peace.

I bow down to all the children, youth,
women and men who are working hard and making a positive contribution to
building our nation as a democratic and free society. Poverty and oppression
can and should never be the scapegoat for violence, disrespect and wanton greed.
Our children, the next generation, need
to work hard and learn to create their own legacies, finding their own places in society. The struggle for emancipation for poverty continues...
prosperity can be measured in more than material things. Education, health and
respect are three things that can take us many places. (Simone Beatrice Naik

What do you think?
Realization
The nature of our poverty
Did not
Destroy our hope
Under the adversity
We learnt to cope
Our resilience
A true reflection of brilliance
The nature of Apartheid’s oppression
Did not
Destroy our souls
Under the repression
We learnt to rise above
Our survival
A true reflection of pure power
The nature of our victories
Did not
Destroy our humility
Under the instability
We found purpose
Our spirit
A true reflection of possible
collectivism
