Veiled Messages

We quietly observe
The subtle
Inequalities
Living
Desires strength
Always navigating
Veiled
Dis-criminality

We consciously detect
The covert
Hypocrisies
Existing
Requires consciousness
Always negotiating
Underground
Boundaries

We instinctively understand
The harsh
Realities
Surviving
Commands creativity
Always questioning
Inner
Understanding

Wavering

We fluctuate
Between
Comfort and complaint
Satisfaction
Evasive
Like our intimacy with the cosmos
It’s turbulent presence
Reassuringly protective
Appreciation
Requires more than
Casual peeking

We gravitate
Towards
Comfort and complacency
Dissatisfaction
Resented
Like our intimacy with the earth
Surviving on terms precarious
Appreciation
Requires more than
Casual breathing

We evaluate
Between
Vanity and victory
Discontent
Perfected
Like our easy communion with duality
Surfacing in cycles unpredictable
Appreciation
Requires more than
Casual being

Stepping Inside (again!)

Your honesty
Hits me like daylights’ reality
Embracing all the broken bits
Love
Slowly mending
More than broken dreams
Fundamentally
Harvesting
Pieces of ourselves
Eventually
We grasp
The act of living

My dishonesty
Hits me like the darkest morning four
Embracing all the broken bits
Love
A Tediously onerous crusade
Inside the mind of time
Fundamentally
Harvesting
Pieces of ourselves
Eventually
We clench
A refreshed sanity

Defiant

I colour
My self-portrait
Black
In-between chores in the house
Disliking these moments
When the mind
Needs a pause
Daily routines
Desires no cause
Life
Prompted by unwarranted order
Or we have failed
Acknowledging these norms
Beaten into me
Discordant

I scratch
My self-portrait
In radiant colour
In-between reading the lines of a fallen shero
Loving these moments of escape
When the mind
Needs a pause
Overruling
The dead and distant orders
Life
Prompted by conventional freedoms
Or we have failed
Embracing these norms
Shaped by me
Truant

I whitewash
My self-portrait
In sepia
In-between now and then
Accepting inevitable change
When the mind
Needs a pause
Assuming
Some kind of daily pace
Life
Prompted by a survivalists realism
Or we have failed
Challenging these norms
I maintain my space
Questioning

Time Passes

I trace the laughing lines
Of the passing time
In my skin

I colour away
Accumulated years
From my hair

I count the scars
Of little accidents
On the ridges of my hands

I gradually understand the accumulating facts
Now the grown-up in the tale
Is me
